Don F. Harris, Esq.
Owner/PrincipalMr. Harris has been a member of the California State Bar since graduating from the University of California at Davis School of Law in 1991. As a nonprofit attorney, Don specializes in non-profit matters and has a rich non-profit history. Prior to his graduation from law school, he served as a city council aide to Joe Serna; as the vice-chairman of the Capital Area Development Authority; and on the boards of the Greater Sacramento Urban League, Goodwill Industries, and the U.C. Davis Medical Center Community Advisory Board.
Don is the founder and first Chairman and CEO of the Nehemiah Corporation of America and was recognized as one of the “25 Most Influential People in Real Estate” by REALTOR Magazine in 2003. Fast Company magazine has recognized him as one of America’s leading “Social Entrepreneurs” and he is part of the Oprah Winfrey Show’s Angel Network.
Prior to forming Nehemiah, Don was a senior associate attorney with McDonough Holland & Allen, where he specialized in land use and redevelopment law and worked extensively on complex real estate transactions. After leaving Nehemiah, he started The Franklin Tanner Group, which provided consulting services to other social entrepreneurs and non-profit organizations. Don has combined his experiences as a non-profit board member, executive and attorney to provide a unique, hands-on approach to advising social entrepreneurs and non-profit organizations. Don currently and regularly services as Outside General Counsel to select nonprofit organizations, primarily social sector charities and churches.
